Job Description & Skills Required

Tower Crane Operators operate and monitor tower cranes to safely lift, lower, and position construction materials, machinery, equipment, and personnel cages. They are responsible for ensuring that lifting operations are carried out safely and efficiently, monitoring crane performance and load capacities, and complying with all site safety regulations and procedures.

TASKS:
– Starts the crane or engine motor and checks that cables run freely and that brakes and drums are operating correctly;
– Operates levers, switches, and pedals to position the jib and raise, lower, or move hooks, buckets, and other lifting equipment;
– Lifts, moves, and positions loads or cages safely, and lowers them for loading, unloading, or detachment by ground personnel;
– Monitors the control panel for warning indicators, wind speed and direction, and crane load capacity;
– Carries out routine maintenance, including oiling, greasing, and inspecting ropes and lifting equipment.
